First meeting of the TG "Aviation Security Detection equipment"

Group:
Aviation Security Detection Equipment

The first meeting of the thematic area ERNCIP-AVSEC took place in Ispra on the 17 February and was attended by 33 representatives from Member States' government agencies, research and technology organisations, the European Civil Aviation Conference, the Airports Council International (Europe), and the Commission, including DG HOME, DG MOVE and the JRC.

The ERNCIP-AVSEC will form a platform for EU collaboration on technical/scientific issues related to detection equipment in aviation security. The aim is to provide support to the EU policy maker, primarily on detection requirements, conformity testing methodologies and certification mechanism, but also on issues such as technical exchanges with third countries and on threat event studies, new threat findings and innovative technologies.

The thematic area is coordinated by Göran Lövestam from the JRC Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements in Geel, Belgium.
