Radiological and Nuclear Threats to Critical Infrastructure
The Group finalised the Reachback work. The main part of the meeting was concerned with use of remote-controlled detection devices. Three core presentations were given by members: “In-field and laboratory testing of radiation detection payloads suitable for remotely controlled rotating wing devices”; “In-field and laboratory testing of radiation detection payloads suitable for remotely controlled fixed wing devices”; and “In-field and laboratory testing of radiation detection payloads suitable for remotely controlled ground vehicles”. During the mission, Fraunhofer FKIE arranged demonstrations of their Research & Experimental Facilities including remote sampling controlled by operator-worn suit simulation and remote micro-helicopter use.
